To honour the late Professor B H Koeppen who was Head of the Department of Food Science at the University of Stellenbosch up to his death in 1980, the Council of SAAFoST has made available one postgraduate scholarship, "THE KOEPPEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP", valued at R 25 000 per annum towards tuition fees.
Only the Tertiary Institutions listed below may nominate candidates for this scholarship. Names of students registered for Masters or Doctorate degrees in the Departments of Food Science at the Universities of Stellenbosch, Pretoria, Venda and the Free State or the Departments of Food Technology at the Durban University of Technology, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the Tshwane University of Technology or the University of Johannesburg may be submitted by the respective Department Heads as candidates for this award. Each department may nominate one candidate.
Criteria
The student must have been a member of SAAFoST for at least two consecutive years preceding the application. Nominations and recommendations based on academic excellence in previous degree results must reach the SAAFoST Membership Development Officer by 15 February. Nominations must include a project proposal of the research being undertaken.
