Registration with SACNASP: General Information for food science and other technical food professionals
You are invited to attend a breakfast talk on "Registration with SACNASP: General Information for food science and other technical food professionals" by Andries de Klerk, Registrar, South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions.
The recent SAAFoST Council circular urging members to register with the SA Council of Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) has resulted in many queries and requests for further information. In response to this feedback and in order to put members and employers in the picture regarding this very important legislation, the SACNASP Registrar has been invited to address members and answer questions relating to registration.
In terms of the Natural Scientific Professions Act, 2003 (Act No 27 of 2003), a person may not practise in the FOOD SCIENCE field of practice unless he/she is registered as either a professional, natural or certificated natural scientist. This applies to consultants in the food industry but is also applicable to food scientists and technologists and other technical food professionals employed in the food and allied industries.The implications of this legislation are many and varied and all members must be aware of how they and their companies are affected. If you are in any doubt about how you are affected, please attend this presentation.
