SAAFoST Cape Branch Event

Update on Salt Reduction in South Africa, by the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Salt Watch

Dear Cape Branch Member,

The Cape Branch Committee of SAAFoST is very privileged to host Erika Ketterer, the Science and Programme Development Manager at the Heart & Stroke Foundation of South Africa.

She will be addressing us on …the nutrition situation in South Africa with a specific focus on salt intake, about salt reduction initiatives, including the launch of Salt Watch SA as well as about salt regulations and the impacts on the food industry.

Erika obtained her dietetics degree at UCT in 2005 and then worked for a year at Groote Schuur Hospital as a clinical dietician.
She joined the Heart and Stroke Foundation SA (HSF) in 2007 as a community dietitian and was promoted to Science and Programme Development Manager in 2011, and is responsible for the development and implementation of HSF programmes, the main aim of which is to encourage prevention at all levels, empower South Africans to adopt healthy lifestyles and make healthy choices easier. She also contributes to the content of various scientific related articles, the development of various materials/health cookbooks and provides expert answers to CVD and lifestyle related questions.

The venue, snacks and drinks are very generously sponsored by Swift-Silliker.

Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Kind regards

Jacques van den Berg
