SAAFoST Cape Branch: Event Notice
Dear SAAFoST Cape Branch member,
SAAFoST's Cape Branch committee invites you to start off 2014 with a talk entitled "Innovation in food and beverage packaging."
The last 200 years have seen packaging evolve from being a container for the product to becoming an important element of total product design.
Since the 19th century, innovations in food science and technology, as well as packaging materials have seen a large variety of food and drinks become available to consumers.
In recent years there has been an increasing demand for packaging that offers the consumer convenience and ease of use, whilst being sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Packaging will also need to become smarter to more effectively communicate with consumers, improve convenience, augment brand identification and enhance sustainable credentials.
This presentation was first delivered at last year's SAAFoST Congress in Pretoria.
About the speaker:
Morongwa Themba is Scientific Services Manager at Nampak R&D. She was past Chair of the SAAFoST Cape Branch and a LOC member of the 2010 IUFoST World Food Congress held in Cape Town.
This event will be a joint SAAFoST/IPSA function.
