From UJ - 16 new innovative products
These products include some innovative and exciting frozen delights such as sorghum beer ice-cream, par-baked, frozen maize bread and healthy ices (orange water ice and frozen yogurt ice), as well as other products for the health conscious individual with all the correct adjectives: "whole-wheat" tortilla chips, "low fat, low sugar, high fibre" scones, "fortified" bran cereal, "gluten-free" pies. There are also however products for pure indulgence, such as zest biscuits, chocolate centred cup cakes, fried avocado balls and flavoured beef ribs. Some interesting new beverages include an alcoholic ice tea and a drinkable oatmeal, and in the "instant" market, examples are powdered yoghurt and pre-gelatinised, fermented porridge.
From TUT - 10 new innovative products
The theme for this year is : "Staying in is the new going out". Students developed a variety of exciting new products to aid consumers in rediscovering cooking and entertainment at home. Products include blue cheese with carob and orange rind, butternut pastry mix, creamy alcoholic loquat drink, rice and soy milk frozen desert and many more.
