Making the most of bread: New challenges in the bread industry
Speaker: Jeannette Rosewall (Business manager: Cereal Enzymes, Anchor Yeast)

Jeanette will address the new challenges in the bread industry, including reduction of salt in bread.

Jeannette obtained her BSc(Agriculture): Hons: Food Science at the University of Pretoria. She started working at the Wheat Board in the Technical Department where she obtained in-depth knowledge on wheat, wheat flour and baking. After the Wheat Board was dissolved, Jeannette became the Technical Manager for Premier Foods' Plant Bakeries. In this role she was intimately involved with Product development, problem solving and Quality Control and Quality Assurance. In 2005 Jeannette joined Anchor Yeast as Technical Manager where she functioned as support to the Bakery Specialty division on flour, yeast and baking as well as managing various projects. In May 2008 Jeannette was promoted to Business Manager: Cereal enzymes and is now responsible for the enzyme business in Sub Saharan Africa. Jeannette serves on various industry technical committees (Chamber of Baking, Winter Cereal Trust, CST-SA (ICC and AACC).

Cost

R60-00 per person for breakfast. (Includes VAT) Full time students R30-00. Attendance of the lecture only is free but booking is essential to gain access to the premises.

Cancellation

Anyone who registers for breakfast and does not attend will regrettably have to be invoiced.

Directions

From the N1 South, take Maraisburg rd offramp. Turn left onto Maraisburg rd. Head east on Maraisburg rd for 3.2km. Turn left and stay on Maraisburg rd for 160m. Turn left into Bunsen street. Anchor yeast is on your right hand-side (140m) and secure parking is opposite the Anchor yeast warehouse on your left-hand side (60m).

From the M1 South, take the M2 right towards Roodepoort. At the end of the freeway, turn left onto Main Reef Road. After 3.7km turn right onto Link rd. At the T junction turn left onto Newclare rd. Turn left at the first robot into Maraisburg rd. After 350m turn right into Bunsen street. Anchor yeast is on your right hand-side (140m) and secure parking is opposite the Anchor yeast warehouse on your left-hand side (60m).
