Food Dehydration, an African Perspective
Speaker: Prof Ingegerd Sjöholm

Ingegerd Sjöholm is a professor in the Department of Food Technology, Engineering and Nutrition, University of Lund, Sweden - one of the top one hundred universities in the world. Her main research expertise is in the area of food dehydration. She has over 100 published papers and has more than five patents in the area of food dehydration. Prof Sjöholm is currently involved in projects such as the drying of fruits in Mozambique, solar assisted concentration fruit juices and purées, heat and mass transfer in the heat treatment of potatoes and the drying of plant and herb materials.

Thanks to the Dept of Food Science for making Prof Sjöholm available to SAAFoST during her one-day visit to the University of Pretoria!

Directions:

From Johannesburg / OR Tambo International Airport
From the M1 or the R21 to Pretoria, take the N1 North towards Polokwane until you reach the Lynnwood Road off-ramp.
Exit left into Lynnwood Rd and going in a westerly direction, pass several traffic lights. At the second set of traffic lights after Jan Shoba street (previously Duncan Street) you will find UP's main entrance on your right.
To get to the parkade, pass the main UP entrance and turn first right into University Road.
The entrance to the University from University Road is on the right.
The parkade is straight ahead of the university entrance.

The entrance to the parkade is on the Lynnwood Rd or south side of the building.
