Cereal Science & Technology
Dear SAAFoST member
Cereal Science Technology - South Africa (CST-SA) invite you to join us for a lecture at the Department of Food Science, Stellenbosch University
Wednesday 22 February 2012 at 15:30
Lecture Room 4008 (4th Floor)

University of Queensland, Australia and
Department of Food Science, Stellenbosch University
Title of talk
Content vs composition - what's the next phase in cereal science research?
For many years, cereals have been produced and traded based on one or two chemical components such as protein content. Recent interests in functional foods have given cereal chemists the incentive to explore both the macro and micro components in the context of content and composition. In Australia, two key areas of starch and non-starch polysaccharides research are being studied to provide data for breeding programs and industry to consider functional quality in a range of different cereals including wheat, barley, sorghum and maize.
Snacks and refreshments kindly sponsored by DANISCO.
Please confirm your attendance with Prof Marena Manley (email@example.com or 082 7715716) by Friday 17 February 2012.
