Global Food Awards Finalists
Dear SAAFoST Members,
The IUFoST Global Food Industry Awards
You may remember the notice below that was circulated to members on 13 April.
It announced the winners of the national competition to select South Africa's best new food products.
These have subsequently been judged internationally against competing goods submitted by a host of other nations throughout the world.
With some very pleasing results for South Africa!
Congratulations to the following "locals" for reaching the FINALS of the IUFoST Global Food Industry Awards:
- Bits-o-Juice Lemon Pods - frozen, in-membrane, bits of lemon for flavouring meals and cocktails,
- Werda - "To-Go", a convenient, low fat, high fibre, shelf stable salad range,
- Cremora - dual tamper-evident closure and jar,
- Nouvelle Mushrooms - FreshWorks TM bag, an optimum humidity balance regulator,
- Woolworths Long Life Dairy Range - new, stylish, innovative, convenient, recyclable bottle and cap,
- Rama Spread for Bread - an educational campaign targeting cash-strapped consumers and
- Flora Test the Nation - a campaign to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease in SA.

The IUFoST Global Food Industry Award Panel that selected these new product semi-finalists, will meet again in Cape Town in August and make its final selection.The items being judged will be on display in the exhibition hall for all delegates to see and the WINNERS will be announced during the Congress. We look forward to meeting the originators, producers and marketers of these remarkable products during the 15th IUFoST World Congress of Food Science being held in Cape Town from 22 to 26 August 2010.
