Dear Colleagues

If you use, or are interested in any aspect of the following and would like to comment on any of it, please follow the link below and let me have your responses by the due dates provided.

  1. Emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners and acidifying agents.
  2. Sorbates, para-hydroxy-benzoates, nisin, ascorbyl esters, propyl gallate, phosphates, ammonium salts of phosphatidic acid, beta-cyclodextrin, sucroglycerides, stearyl citrate, saccharins, sucralose and aspartame-acesulfame salt.
  3. Additives in composite foods.
  4. A discussion on Codex note 161 - implications of its use by importing countries, on Codex standard setting efforts and the value of its science based decisions.
Four documents covering these items are to be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the Codex Committee on Food Additives to be held in Mangzou, China from 12 to 16 March 2012. Your comments and contributions are vital in ensuring that your needs and those of South Africa are addressed in the International Codex Standard for Food Additives - the General Standard on Food Additives, to which SA legislation is gradually being aligned.

More information on the documents can be accessed here: LEGISLATION

I look forward to hearing from you,

Best regards
