Food Fraud Workshop

Dear Members,

While the final confirmation of speakers at the joint SAAFoST / IUFoST Food Fraud Workshop is awaited, the following information is being provided to members who wish to attend, make travel arrangements and, in the interim, confirm their attendance of the event.

A full programme will be made available by next Monday giving all speaker names, titles, slots and presentation times.

The SAAFoST / IUFoST Food Fraud Workshop - venue, date & times
This one-day workshop in the Ruby Auditorium at the CSIR International Convention Centre on 29 March will start at 09:30 and close at 16:30.
These times will enable visitors from the coastal branches to organise same-day return flights if necessary, without missing anything on the exciting programme.

Programme and Speakers
Apart from Guest speaker Dr Pamela Byrne of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), Mrs Penny Campbell of the Directorate of Food Control of the Department of Health and Mr Niel Erasmus of the Directorate of Food Safety and Quality Assurance of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the following have also confirmed their participation:

Nicola Brook (Foodpath) - on local food fraud in the news over the last fifteen years
Anza Bester (Merieux NutriSciences) - on food fraud terminology
Janusz Luterek (Hahn & Hahn) - on legal aspects of food fraud in SA
Harris Steinman (FACTS) - food fraud from the FACTS perspective
Wouter Conradie (NSF-CMi Africa) - a food fraud risk model

Further confirmations are expected during the course of this week.

The early bird fee per head for SAAFoST Members in good standing is R885-00 (includes VAT).

Deadline for bookings:
End of business, Friday 24 March, 2017 after which a late entry fee of R1,100 (incl VAT) will be charged.

If you cannot make it, please cancel by 12:00 Friday 24 March, or preferably, send someone in your place.
