The Board of Trustees is chaired by Janusz Luterek, a senior partner at Hahn & Hahn Patent Attorneys. The other trustees are Lucia Anelich, Managing Director of Anelich Consulting, Visiting Professor at the Wits Business School and Treasurer of the Foundation, Francina Makhoane, Corporate Governance at the University of Johannesburg, Hettie Schönfeldt, Professor at the University of Pretoria and Sibongile Chiumya, Senior Director- Scientific & Regulatory Affairs at The Coca-Cola Company. We believe that the Board is well balanced with experienced business people, legal and regulatory expertise and academic experience in the food industry.
Irene Burke, the SAAFoST Membership Development Officer, assists the Board with the administration of bursaries, which includes the selection of suitable candidates as recipients of the bursaries, liaising with the tertiary institutions and monitoring students’ progress. Since its inception, 95 students supported by the Foundation completed their qualifications. In 2026, the Foundation is administering 18 bursaries, of which only 4 are funded by companies operating in the food industry. The Board of Trustees appeals to food industry businesses to become donors of bursaries for qualifying students
